DB Quacks Competitions

Tutorials, story challenges and a weekly puzzle keep the pond busy. Every now and then we team up with great partners for something bigger: a real SQL competition, with a clock, a leaderboard, a crowd and a prize at the end.

MotherDuck × The Christmas Heist

Our December 2025 holiday heist with MotherDuck, the cloud data warehouse built on DuckDB. A public contest open to everyone: 15 cases that led from your browser all the way to millions of rows in the cloud. The contest is over, but the case is still open: crack it whenever you like. Or check out MotherDuck's announcement.

Alchimie Data Solutions × SQL Arena

SQL Arena is a private, live SQL showdown for students, run by Alchimie Data Solutions with Université de Lille and CY Tech: ten questions straight from real business cases, two hours on the clock, and prizes for the winners. A second podium rewards SQL golf: the shortest query that gets the job done. Two editions have run on DB Quacks so far, with more in the coming months.
